Solar Eclipse Power

It seems like a long time ago, but there was a solar eclipse cutting through the US last week. It was the talk of the town...well more national than local.
There were lots of discussion on the meaning of the solar eclipse, from the more progressive Oregon to the more conservative South Carolina. There were comparisons from the last time a solar eclipse took place in the US back in 1979. And of course, the best places to see this amazing event and how to get a hold of those glasses, if you weren't handy or felt comfortable to make your own device. If you were more of a tech savvy person, you took pictures with your phone without looking into the screen.
But something happened that did not make the news. Where I worked in the northeast, we had a partial eclipse. It didn't stop people from checking this out though. In front of our office, a swarm of people came out to bear witness to this event. Which may not sound special but it was who were there and what occurred.
There were workers, supervisors and administrators and clients. A variety of colors, races, genders and ages. A few different languages expressing awe and amazement of what was taking place in the sky. Those with the all important glasses, sharing with those without. A moment of humanity gathered for a special peaceful event. Like what took place around the nation at that time and of special times gone by. A moment when our labels were put aside to share in a communal event. Something I truly believe we need more of...
