The Time of RE.....

Sitting in the spare bedroom at my father's house in Florida, happy to be spending time with him. I am so enjoying the bonding and the peace and quiet that his home brings. I have the time to sit and reflect.

This year has become the time of "re". I didn't plan it out to be this. Not a goal of mine, not seen in my radar. But this time is here and now.

Back in April, I went away for two weeks with my husband for our 30th wedding anniversary. With our work schedules, it has been nearly impossible to spend quality time together, which has been going on for a very long time. So we reconnected in a beautiful tropical environment. I didn't realize how much I missed this in our marriage.

Two months later, I began getting the urge of finding a new dog for the family. Our wonderful dog Cosmo passed away 2 and a half years ago. He was simply the best dog ever. It was so very difficult for the family when he passed and I wasn't sure if we could find another that would fit the bill.

So I thought of all of the things I wanted our new dog to have; being good in the car was one of those wishes. It didn't take long, but our Salvador (aka Sal) has been part of the household for a few months now. (More stories on this guy to follow). The process of finding and receiving Sal has rekindled my love for animals. When Cosmo passed, my grief held me back on bonding with animals. I am so thankful to be past that now.

The biggest Re to date is my resigning (or retiring-depending on the day) from my job. There is so very much to say, and it will be told through this blog as I review my time employed in a welfare agency. I had no idea as to how much this job affected me until I ended up in the hospital. It was a reminder for me to take care of myself first, which I definitely wasn't doing.

The Re's are making me reflect on what has happened, what to do and where to go from here. I am planning to rework my priorities to make my life a true representation of who I am, what I stand for and to make a difference.

One little hand

One year and one day ago, I released the hand of a precious little boy, knowing in my heart that I would never see him again. Our parting...
